Tele-Fest/Rande’-Fest Update!!!
Tele-Fest/Rande’-Fest is still on for this weekend Jan. 14th, 2011! I keep hearing it all over the place that people are not sure if it’s going to happen this year or not and I just don’t understand. I have been skiing twice at Hoodoo in the last couple days and it’s been really good! Yes you need to stay ON the run if you are using Demo skis because YES you will pay for damage if you decide to ski in the trees. It’s a low snow year but it’s not a no snow year…HUGE difference! Sat. the sun will be shining and all the major companies that either have Telemark or AT gear will be present to show-off all their gear! There will be great music playing all day as well as all the normal races and lesson’s! Raffle and party with the DR. Jack Show Live DJ so come ready to party all day and all night!!! Hope the new year finds you all well and see you all soon! Cheers!

Birthed from a passion to have fun on skis and to share that passion with others. If you are a Telemark or A.T. skier then this is the premier event on the west coast to either try skis, learn to ski or race your buns off…Plus we have some other really fun events going on as well.
Tons of great prizes and tons of great gear to try but best of all is the people that come…it really does make the event amazing.
The buzz keeps getting louder and louder each year and so far all the behind the sceens work has paid off…SMILES ALL THE WAY AROUND!!! It has been so great to put this event on and can’t wait to see what this year will bring. You will see more and more of the Norwegian feeling as I will add music and more costumes to the event this year. Huge after party is being planned as well with movies and a Apres Ski Party brought to us by Rottefella, Telemark Skier Magazine, Three Creeks Brewing and Oakshire.
Event Date: Jan. 14th, 2012
Event cost: price of a lift ticket
What: Telemark Festival(All Freeheel skiers welcome or even those who want to be) where your inner Viking can come out and play!!! We will have tons of Demo’s, Tele-Tour Groups(some minor instruction and meeting like minded people), Race’s with not only great prizes but the coveted awards for:
BEST FEMALE SKIER(Rannei Amundsdotter Award)
BEST MALE SKIER(Sondre Norheim Award)
BEST BIG AIR(Ofte Lofte Award)
Uphill-Downhill race(Sirdal Slogg Award)
We are adding this year some optional 3 hour lesson’s from the pro’s at Freeheel Life/Telemark Skier Magazine , The Life Unbound as well as some level three clinicians to do women’s specific lesson’s for $25(which is nothing if you have ever had a lesson before).
We will have music from Norway playing all day and have some fun events for Adults and kids alike to bring you into the Viking spirit. Costumes are highly encouraged but don’t have to follow the theme so come as you are or who you would like to be!
The goal of Telefest is to bring the Telemark community together for a day of fun on the Hill and to introduce the sport of Telemark to those who want to learn more. This is a great chance to share the history and love for the country of Norway. Skiing is a sport that has really grown in the last 100 years and it all really got going because of a farmer from Norway who was jumping off the roofs of huts to competing in some races…which changed the face of skiing forever.
Overnight Camping is allowd at Ray Benson Snowpark…just make sure to have a snowpark permit so you don’t get a ticket. I will do my best to have a sign up but otherwise it is planned to be right by the little lodge and bathroom area at Ray Benson. It’s nice to have a place to set-up your tent and relax with bathrooms/warm fire close by when you need it. Worked great last season and can’t wait to do it again.
For lesson’s: To sign-up ahead of time please call The Eugene River House at 541-682-5329 Reference # Telemark and Cost for Pro lessons is $25.(Cash/check only at hill (they have a cash machine just in case)
Tele-Tour Groups is free which gets you basic instruction from really cool volunteers.
Jan. 15th is Ski with the Reps/Pro’s day so if you want to stick around for a second day you can ski with the most amazing reps in the industry and the pro’s!!! It doesn’t get better than this!!!
